To which albums do I keep coming back?

While driving I’ve been listening to an MP-CD I burned when I was about 17. It was a full blown trip down memory lane and I still love most of the albums on this MP3-CD!

Muse – Origin of Symmetry

Heard this album first when I was about 15 and I think it’s the best Muse album. I’ve stopped listening to them beyond Absolution, but this is the album I keep coming back to. Every song hit the spot on this one. For me the best is certainly Space Dementia.

Pearl Jam – Ten

I think in NL this album was voted best album of the nineties and I can only agree. There is a certain atmosphere to this album that is so unique. And the song Black gives me chills every time I hear it.

Radiohead – Ok Computer

This album contains Paranoid Android. Enough Said.

Smashing Pumpkins – Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness

I still remember first listening to this album. I borrowed this double album from a friend and put it in my CD-player (holy shit, I don’t even have a CD-player anymore now!!). Ok, started nicely with a peaceful piano piece and then…BAM. That voice. It took me a while to get used to Billy Corgan’s wailing and piercing vocals. I dare say this album made me appreciate ‘raw voices’ more. This might have been the album that sort of warmed me up to listen to metal and grunts. But when Billy isn’t doing his weird voice thing, he sounds quite pleasant. And the composition of songs on this album is just amazing. Funnily, there is still a song on the album I truly hate: “X.Y.Z”. Ugh.

Favorite: Zero.

And then metal happened. But now that I can listen to almost ‘anything’ I still keep coming back to Therion, the band that got me into metal.

Therion – Sirius B/Lemuria.

I bought this double album when I was in Rome at the age of 18 and remember devouring it. I was camping in Italy so I put the CD in my Diskman (another device that doesn’t exist anymore!) and really sat down and listened to it. Over and over. And still I can listen to this album over and over.  I can’t really give a most liked song, but I really like the classical instruments in this one.

Next time I post about music it’ll be about my fav metal albums!
